Creating a note requires that you have a free YouVersion account. Here are the instructions for signing up on the web.
There are two ways that you can create a new note.
Option 1: When in Reader mode:
1) Select the verse(s) you want to create a note for by clicking on them.
2) A new button will appear at the top of the window, next to the three character translation code, called “Selected”. Click on that button.
3) In the drop down menu that appears, click on “New Note.”
4) To change the verse(s) you are referencing:
- Add a presently unselected verse: Click on it.
- Remove a presently selected verse: Click on it.
5) Optional: Add a title.
6) Select the status you want:
- Public. Everyone can see this note.
- Draft. Only you can see this note.
Note: This setting assumes you want to work on this note before publishing. - Private. Only you can see this note.
7) Click the [SAVE] button.

Option 2
1) Click on the Notes button in the left navigation menu.
2) Click on the New Note button towards the top right hand side of the window
3) Optional: Enter a title
4) Add the content for your note.
Note: You can use the menu bar on the Content field to add/remove formatting, to add links, images, or rich content links to other sites, or to work directly with the HTML source code for your note.
5) Select the status you want:
- Public. Everyone can see this note.
- Draft. Only you can see this note.
Note: This setting assumes you want to work on this note before publishing. - Private. Only you can see this note.
6) Click the [SAVE] button.
