Why Can’t I Use My Favorite Version for My Plan?

The majority of the Reading Plans that YouVersion offers will allow you to use any Bible version you choose.  However, some of the publishers of some plans stipulate certain conditions, such as specifying the Bible version that a given plan must use. (perhaps when the wording of the commentary is dependent on the wording of that version) The publisher of each plan indicates to us whether their plan can be read with any version, or if it must be associated with a specific version. The plan that you are asking about is probably an example of the “specific version” type of plan.

YouVersion does not own the copyrights for many of the Bible reading plans that we offer. While we have developed in-house a few of the Bible reading plans that we make available, it’s actually only through cooperative partnerships and agreements with generous Bible societies, publishers, churches, organizations, and even individuals from all over the world that we’re able to offer you so many choices. The partners who provide YouVersion with the plans that we offer have demonstrated extraordinary grace and generosity in allowing us to bring them to a worldwide audience—completely free of charge. And we are profoundly grateful for each of these relationships.
